ALISOPLAY Mobile — Privacy Policy
Last Updated:
This Privacy Policy explains how the ALISOPLAY Mobile Android application handles your information, what stays on your device, what is processed by ALISOPLAY servers, and how you can control analytics, advertising, and account data.
1. Stored Locally on Your Device
Saved articles and offline bookmarks, recent search history, language, theme, and text-size preferences, cached app listings, and encrypted login sessions stay on your device.
2. Processed by ALISOPLAY Servers
Optional ALISOPLAY ID sign-in, Google Sign-In verification, live search and article delivery, and Support Center inquiries.
3. Processed by Third-Party Services
Optional Google Firebase Analytics (off by default until you enable it) and Google AdMob advertisements with Google UMP privacy controls.
1. Scope & Application Identity
This Privacy Policy applies to the ALISOPLAY Mobile Android application, published and operated by ALISOPLAY ("we", "us", or "our") alongside the official portal at https://alisoplay.com.
ALISOPLAY Mobile provides multilingual guides, Korea Today news, Explore Korea articles, emergency and institutional directory references, a curated Apps Hub, offline article bookmarks, and a member Support Center for residents, workers, students, and visitors in South Korea.
You can browse articles, Korea Today updates, Explore Korea guides, emergency numbers, and the Apps Hub, and save bookmarks locally on your device without creating or signing in to an account.
2. Local Data, ALISOPLAY Server Data, and Third-Party Data
To keep our privacy practices clear, ALISOPLAY Mobile separates data processing into three categories based on where information is stored and who processes it:
- On-Device Local Data (Never Automatically Uploaded): Saved articles and bookmarks for offline reading, recent search terms, interface language, dark or light theme, reading text size, and local privacy choices stay on your device.
- ALISOPLAY Server Data (https://alisoplay.com): Processed only when you load live articles or search results, sign in with an optional ALISOPLAY ID or Google Sign-In, or submit a Support Center inquiry.
- Third-Party Service Data (Google LLC): Processed by Google Firebase Analytics (only if you enable analytics in settings) and Google AdMob / Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to display advertisements and manage your advertising consent.
3. Saved Articles, Bookmarks & Local Preferences (On-Device Storage)
ALISOPLAY Mobile stores your personal reading preferences and saved items directly on your device:
- Saved Articles & Offline Bookmarks: When you bookmark an article or Korea Today post, its title, summary, category, cover image link, publication date, and article text are saved locally on your device so you can read them offline. Your bookmark list is not uploaded to ALISOPLAY servers.
- Recent Search History: Your last 10 search terms are saved locally on your device for quick access and can be cleared at any time using the "Clear All" button on the Search screen.
- Interface & Reading Preferences: Your chosen language (English, Arabic, Korean, Urdu, Vietnamese, Nepali, Sinhala, Filipino, Simplified Chinese, or Uzbek), theme mode (System, Light, or Dark), and article text size are saved locally on your device.
- Cached App Directory: Public app directory listings are cached on your device to reduce data usage and allow faster browsing in the Apps Hub.
4. ALISOPLAY ID Authentication & Google Sign-In
Creating an account or signing in is optional. You only need to sign in if you want to manage an ALISOPLAY ID profile or submit and track Support Center tickets.
- ALISOPLAY ID (Email & Password): When you register or sign in with your email and password, we process your email address, display name, encrypted password hash, and account status to authenticate your session and manage your account.
- Google Sign-In: When you choose "Continue with Google", Google authenticates your account and provides a secure sign-in token to our server. We receive only your verified email address, Google account identifier, display name, and profile photo link (if available). ALISOPLAY Mobile never requests access to your Google Contacts, Gmail messages, Google Drive files, or calendar.
- Secure On-Device Session Storage: Active login tokens are stored in encrypted storage on your device and are immediately erased when you sign out or delete your account.
5. Google Firebase Analytics & Your Analytics Choices
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how people use the app, measure feature stability, and improve performance.
Analytics Consent Is Separate from Advertising Consent: Analytics collection is controlled by its own switch in Settings & More > Privacy & Analytics. By default, analytics collection starts turned OFF until you choose to enable it.
- Information Collected When Enabled: General screen views, opening the Apps Hub or Support Center, opening articles or categories, and changing the app language. When you use search, the app records only that the search screen was used—it never sends the words you typed to Firebase Analytics.
- No Personal Contact Details in Analytics: ALISOPLAY Mobile never sends your name, email address, password, support messages, or search queries to Firebase Analytics.
- Not Used for Personalized Advertising: Advertising features inside Firebase Analytics are permanently disabled. Turning analytics on or off affects only usage statistics and never enables personalized ads.
6. Google AdMob Advertising & Advertising Identifiers
To keep ALISOPLAY Mobile guides and multilingual services free of charge, we use Google AdMob to display clearly labeled Banner and Native advertisements.
- Where Ads Appear: Banner ads appear at the bottom of the Home screen and below articles, and clearly labeled "Ad / Sponsored" cards appear in the Home and Korea Today feeds. Advertisements are never shown on Emergency hotline pages, sign-in screens, or legal and privacy pages.
- Information Processed and Shared for Advertising: Depending on your location and privacy choices, Google AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and share your device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID), approximate location derived from your IP address, device model, operating system version, screen size, app language, ad views and clicks, and ad diagnostic data to deliver ads, measure performance, and prevent fraud.
- Family-Safe Ad Rating: Advertisements requested by ALISOPLAY Mobile are restricted to general and family-appropriate content ratings.
- Google Privacy Disclosures: You can learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and review the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and Google Advertising Policies at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
7. Google UMP Consent & Your Ad Privacy Controls
ALISOPLAY Mobile integrates the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) and provides built-in Ad Privacy Controls that work independently of your analytics settings:
- Regional Consent Prompts: In regions where privacy laws (such as GDPR in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom) require consent before serving personalized ads, the app presents the official Google consent form before requesting advertisements.
- In-App Ad Privacy Settings (Available to All Users): You can open Settings & More > Ad Privacy & Consent at any time to switch to Non-Personalized Ads Only, enable or disable advertisements, or reopen the Google privacy options form.
- Non-Personalized Ads Mode: When you choose non-personalized ads, ALISOPLAY Mobile requests contextual advertisements rather than ads based on a personal advertising profile.
- Android System Advertising ID Controls: You can also reset or delete your Android Advertising ID at any time in your phone settings under Android Settings > Google > Ads.
8. Support Center & User Inquiries
Signed-in users can submit questions and reply to support threads through the in-app Support Center.
- Information Processed: Your inquiry subject, selected category, message content, replies, timestamps, and your ALISOPLAY ID account name and email address.
- How We Use It: Used solely by the ALISOPLAY support team to review your request, reply to your ticket, and resolve technical or account issues.
9. Live Search, Content Delivery & External Links
When you read articles, browse categories, or search for guides in ALISOPLAY Mobile, the app connects securely to https://alisoplay.com over encrypted HTTPS:
- Live Search Requests: Typing a search term sends your query and selected language to our server solely to return matching articles and guides. Your search text is not used to build advertising profiles and is never sent to Firebase Analytics.
- Standard Security Logs: Like any web service, our servers process standard connection details (such as IP address, app version, and request time) to maintain service reliability and prevent abuse.
- External Websites & Emergency Hotlines: Tapping an external link (such as Google Play Store listings, official Korean portals like HiKorea, NHIS, or MOEL, or emergency numbers 112, 119, 1345, 1339, and 1330) opens the external website or your phone dialer under that organization’s own privacy policy.
10. Data Security & Retention
We apply technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information:
- Encryption in Transit: All network communication between ALISOPLAY Mobile, https://alisoplay.com, and Google services is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Local Data Retention: Saved bookmarks, recent searches, and reading preferences remain on your device until you clear them in the app, clear the app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
- Account & Support Retention: Your ALISOPLAY ID account details and Support Center tickets are kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and personal account records are permanently removed from our active databases, except where limited retention is required by law or security obligations.
11. Account Deletion & Data Removal Rights
You can delete your ALISOPLAY ID account, request deletion of specific application data, or clear your local device data at any time:
- Method 1 — Immediate In-App Account Deletion: Open ALISOPLAY Mobile > go to Settings & More > tap your Profile card > select "Delete Account" and confirm. Your ALISOPLAY ID account and active sessions are permanently deleted immediately.
- Method 2 — Public Web Deletion Portal (No App Required): Visit https://alisoplay.com/en/account-deletion in any browser to request deletion of your unified ALISOPLAY ID account or request deletion of ALISOPLAY Mobile application data without deleting your account.
- Method 3 — Clearing Local On-Device Data: Remove saved articles in the Saved tab, tap "Clear All" on the Search screen to erase recent searches, or open Android Settings > Apps > ALISOPLAY > Storage > Clear storage to reset all local app data.
12. Children’s Privacy, International Processing & Policy Updates
Children’s Privacy: ALISOPLAY Mobile is designed for general and adult audiences and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International Data Processing: ALISOPLAY serves an international community living in or visiting South Korea. Information processed by ALISOPLAY and third-party service providers (including Google LLC) may be processed on secure servers in South Korea, the United States, and other regions where our service providers operate.
Policy Updates: When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
