History & Heritage
Located in central Gimhae, historic seat of the Gaya Confederation, this historic site features a 5-meter-high circular tumulus set within sacred forest courtyards.
According to Samguk Yusa, King Suro descended from heaven upon Gujibong Peak in 42 CE to lead the Gaya confederation.
In 48 CE, Princess Heo Hwang-ok arrived by ship from Ayuta, India, forging the first documented maritime union in Korean history.
