Read Korea's 2026 minimum wage without confusing it with take-home pay

A wage figure is only useful when its year, unit and assumptions match the work you are checking. Keep hourly pay, the official monthly illustration and money deposited after deductions separate.

Start with the year and the unit

A wage figure is only useful when its year, unit and assumptions match the work you are checking. Keep hourly pay, the official monthly illustration and money deposited after deductions separate.

Official 2026 reference

MOEL's labor portal lists 10,320 KRW per hour for 1 January–31 December 2026. Its monthly reference is 2,156,880 KRW based on 40 weekly working hours plus eight paid weekly-rest hours. That reference is not a promise that every worker receives the same monthly amount or take-home pay.

Compare records, not only a bank deposit

For an enquiry, put your contract, pay statement, agreed schedule, actual time records and bank payments side by side. Identify the pay period first. Mark each payment component and deduction separately so an adviser can explain what belongs in the legal comparison. Do not divide a bank deposit by hours and assume the result alone proves compliance or a violation.

If an employer mentions a probationary reduction, ask for the precise conditions and occupation category. The official page describes conditional exceptions; this guide does not decide whether your job satisfies them. Overtime, paid rest, allowances and deductions can require separate analysis.

Ask a focused question

Explain the year, job arrangement and disputed pay component to MOEL through its official counseling route. Request an explanation of the calculation and the applicable rule. Preserve original statements; add your own notes in a separate copy.

This guide concerns the 2026 reference period only. A notice for a later year does not retroactively change the rate applicable to an earlier pay period. Before relying on this page for a new year, follow its source and review date. Alisoplay is not providing an individual payroll assessment or a salary calculator here.
