The confirmed statutory minimum wage for 2026 is 10,320 KRW/hr (2,156,880 KRW/month for 209 hrs). Work is strictly capped at 52 hrs/week.
Employees who have worked continuously for 1 year or longer with average 15+ hours/week are entitled to at least 30 days of average wage per year of service.
All wages and severance must be settled within 14 days of termination. Unpaid workers can file MOEL petitions and claim government substitute pay up to 10M KRW.
Employers must execute and hand over a written contract specifying wages, hours, holidays, and annual leave. Failure triggers criminal fines up to 5M KRW.
