History & Heritage
Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2010 alongside Yangdong Village, Hahoe is celebrated for its harmonious layout reflecting Joseon Neo-Confucian ideals and geomantic pungsu principles.
Founded by the Pungsan Ryu clan during the transition from Goryeo to Joseon dynasties.
Home to prominent Joseon scholar-officials including Ryu Seong-ryong, author of the seminal war chronicle Jingbirok.
