Industriya ng Sasakyan sa Korea: Mula sa Pony Hanggang sa Pamumuno sa EV

How Hyundai Motor Group climbed to the world’s top-three automakers through bold design, EV architectures, and smart manufacturing.

1. The Legend of the Pony: Korea’s First Independent Car in 1975

Korean car manufacturing developed from assembling foreign-linked models toward creating a local model identity, while continuing international cooperation in design and technology.

Hyundai’s Pony was a notable milestone, with styling associated with Giorgetto Giugiaro. Its story shows how a local product identity can develop through international partnerships.

2. Ulsan: Manufacturing, Port and Supply Chain

Hyundai’s Ulsan complex links vehicle manufacturing with an industrial city and port. It illustrates the relationship between assembly, component suppliers and logistics in automotive production.

Production capacity and pace vary with manufacturing lines, demand and maintenance. A vehicle output interval cannot be treated as a permanent figure for every line and period.

3. Leading the Zero-Emission Revolution: E-GMP & Hydrogen

The group uses E-GMP for electric vehicles. Charging speed and functions such as powering external devices depend on the model, battery, charger and conditions; consult the specific vehicle’s specifications instead of applying one charging time universally.

Models like the IONIQ 5 and EV6 clinched multiple World Car of the Year accolades, while Korea concurrently champions hydrogen fuel-cell heavy transport.
